writing
Reeta writes short stories, poetry and songs and has been performing since the early 2000s. She performs regularly and most recently wrote a one-person show which toured for six months in 2022/23, headlining at The Barbican. In 2022 Reeta completed the Storytelling Summer course at RADA.
Reeta was a columnist at leading lesbian, bi, women and non-binary title DIVA for three years from 2017. Reeta also wrote features before becoming Contributing Editor at GAY TIMES from 2018 to 2021. Her poetry has been published in the She Voices Anthology and her songs are available on all streaming platforms.
Her writing is well known for mainstreaming narratives and histories that have been silenced and censored as well as creating work for emerging audiences. Reeta is known to be a passionate and powerful voice as a multi-disciplinary artist that takes storytelling to a new level, fusing poetry, music, comedy and song. Reeta is continuing to innovate by bringing movement into her live performance work.
Her debut novel is in the works and she publishes fortnightly essays about storytelling in her Substack newsletter entitled ‘SOUND’, which you can read here.
