ABOUT
Reeta Loi is an award-winning Storyteller and Forbes 100 Founder.
Reeta is a powerful multi-disciplinary Storyteller with a focus on deepening our understanding of each other and shedding light on stories that are silenced. After several years of activism they founded Gaysians in 2017, a community partnerships platform for LGBT+ people to access resources for mental health, housing, trans, faith, sexual health and youth support. Gaysians have put on events with charity and brand partners. Reeta has consulted for a range of organisations such as housing charity AKT to help them better serve the needs of South Asian LGBT+ people. Reeta has campaigned for the successful decriminalisation of homosexuality in India, achieved in 2018 and has worked with people and organisations around the world united in working for human rights.
Reeta was Contributing Editor at GAY TIMES and Columnist for DIVA and has also worked with Guardian, BBC, VICE, Stylist, Refinery29, GQ, Clash, gal-dem, Bustle, The London Standard, Metro, HuffPost and The Sunday Times. They trained in Storytelling at RADA and wrote and toured a one-person show fusing comedy, music and poetry, which included performances at the Roundhouse and Barbican. Their Substack newsletter 'SOUND' is a space for stories that are silenced. Reeta’s music has been released alongside Sia, Cinematic Orchestra, Meshell Ndegeocello and Mark Ronson.
As a host and speaker Reeta’s worked with Somerset House, The Oxford Union, Bloomsbury Festival, TEDxLondon, BBC, Meta, WPP, Oxfam, Virgin O2, Deloitte, Labour Party, Levi’s, H&M, Burberry and more. As a reporter, Reeta’s VICE documentary exposed and shut down a gay marriage scam based in India and has amassed over 2 million views. They’re also on Channel 4's 'Where have all the lesbians gone' and has featured in campaigns for H&M, The Body Shop, Schwarzkopf and Boots Beauty.
Before this most recent decade of work for LGBT+ rights, Reeta spent 15 years in creative, tech and film production companies, including leading the production of commercials for Sony in London and LA and later as Head of Business/Exec Producer at Pulse Films.
Reeta’s latest focus is storytelling company Studio Sagara producing untold stories that provide a platform for those that are censored.
Reeta has been Forbes 100 listed, as well as recognised by The Guardian’s Pride Power List for eight consecutive years and nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the British LGBT+ Awards, amongst other accolades.
